Why did my bid not meet the reserve?

Our system is designed to protect bidders from accidentally bidding more than they intended to bid (believe it or not, that can happen more often than you think). We use a Max Bid, which only places the next available increment.

That said, there is no option for you to effectively "bid against yourself" to raise the bid and meet the Reserve. However, you could have created a new bidder account using another email address to bid against yourself, if you wished to do so. Ultimately, a Reserve requires a lot of traffic to the auction to work.

Please let us know if you need additional clarification. Years ago our system allowed for "actual bid amounts" to be placed, and it created a lot of problems in the form of unintended bid amounts that then needed to be corrected manually.
