How does the Max Bid work?

Set a Max Bid to take advantage of our proxy bidding algorithm. A Max Bid works better than an Instant Bid if you're on a budget or don't have the time to place multiple counter bids to stay in the lead. By entering the Maximum amount that you're willing to pay, our system will incrementally bid against all counter bids up to your Max Bid amount, BUT only by the Next Minimum increment available. This allows you to set it and forget it! AND you might even WIN your auction item FOR LESS than you budgeted!!

A Max Bid, also commonly referred to as an auto bid or a proxy bid, is a convenient way to bid in an online auction. Placing a Max Bid allows you to enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for an item and our auction software will automatically bid on your behalf, in the smallest increments available, up to your Max Bid.

FOR EXAMPLE, you could place a Max Bid of $1,000,000 when the next minimum bid required is only $5. Our system will register that you are willing to pay UP TO $1,000,000 and then it will only place the next minimum bid of $5. HOWEVER, if another bidder matches your max of $1,000,000, your Max Bid will be met immediately in a tie. If you were the first to register the $1,000,000 Max Bid, you will maintain your lead because you were the first to register a Max Bid at that amount--you can think of it in baseball terms as the old adage, tie goes to the runner.

But be careful or you might win a $10 item for $1,000,000!!!  :-D
